This type of sword is associated with palace guards, military commanders, and noble retainers serving the Venetian state. Characterized by its elegant teardrop pommel, gracefully curved knuckle bow, and uncommon ricasso spur, it represents one of the most recognizable civilian-military sword styles of the Italian Renaissance.

The Distinctive Ricasso Spur
